Monthly amounts are annual totals divided by twelve. Only the deductions within this calculator’s supported profile are included; your payslip can differ. Annual pension components, EI and QPIP rounded to cents; each jurisdiction’s final annual tax rounded to cents, half upward. Income-tax bands and credits retain exact precision until that final step. This is an annual estimate convention, not payroll-table or tax-return rounding parity.

THE NUMBERS, EXPLAINED

How your Ontario salary estimate works

1 Jan 2025 – 31 Dec 2025. Enter regular gross cash salary before deductions. Monthly input is multiplied by twelve; monthly results divide the annual estimate by twelve.

The calculation combines federal and Ontario income tax after supported credits, employee CPP including applicable additional contributions, and EI. Ontario surtaxes, the basic tax reduction, applicable LIFT and the health premium are included in provincial tax.

This is an annual salary estimate. Actual paycheck withholding can differ with pay frequency, payroll rounding, TD1 declarations, benefits and other deductions.

Surtax, health premium and employee contributions

Ontario adds 20% of provincial tax above CAD 5,710 plus 36% of provincial tax above CAD 7,307. These thresholds apply to provincial tax, not gross salary.

The basic tax reduction and eligible Low-income Individuals and Families Tax Credit (LIFT) can reduce provincial income tax. LIFT does not offset the Ontario health premium. The health premium is included in the provincial total, rather than subtracted a second time.

Employee CPP and EI are separate deductions. Enhanced CPP contributions also reduce taxable income; base CPP and EI qualify for supported non-refundable tax credits. Employer contributions are not deducted from your salary.

Some published bands extend above this calculator’s supported salary range. Entering more than the supported maximum produces an error.
