What is salary after tax?
Gross salary is your pay before income tax and employee deductions. Salary after tax is the amount remaining after the taxes included in your estimate.
Net salary, often called take-home pay, usually means pay after all employee deductions. Depending on your country and circumstances, these may include social insurance, pension contributions, student loan repayments, and other deductions.
A tax-only estimate subtracts income tax but leaves out other payroll deductions. Each calculator explains its supported profile, included deductions, income years, and official sources. Read how our salary calculations work to understand why an estimate may differ from your payslip.
Gross salary − income tax − included employee deductions = estimated pay after deductions.
A simple salary-after-tax example

|---|---|
| Gross salary | 50,000 |
| Income tax | −8,000 |
| Salary after income tax only | 42,000 |
| Other employee deductions | −2,000 |
| Pay after these deductions | 40,000 |
These figures demonstrate the arithmetic only; they do not represent any country’s tax rates. Actual payslip take-home depends on the applicable rules and your circumstances.
