THE NUMBERS, EXPLAINED
How your New York salary estimate works
1 Jan 2026 – 31 Dec 2026. Enter regular gross cash salary before deductions. Monthly input is multiplied by twelve; monthly results divide the annual estimate by twelve.
New York state income tax is added to federal income tax. Employee Social Security and Medicare also reduce your pay. The federal standard deduction is USD 16,100 for this single-filer estimate.
New York standard employee disability insurance and Paid Family Leave are included by default. Review who pays these contributions, and choose your full-year NYC/Yonkers profile for applicable local tax. Working in NYC alone does not make you liable for NYC resident income tax. Refundable school-tax and other credits are excluded.
This is an annual salary estimate. Actual paycheck withholding can differ with pay frequency, payroll rounding, W-4 settings, benefits and other deductions.

Federal employee payroll deductions
Employee Social Security is 6.2% up to the 2026 wage cap of USD 184,500. Medicare is 1.45% of covered wages. Our USD 100,000 salary ceiling stays below the Social Security cap and the Additional Medicare threshold.
Only employee contributions reduce the result. Employer payroll taxes, insurance, retirement contributions and other unsupported deductions are excluded.
Some published bands extend above this calculator’s supported salary range. Entering more than the supported maximum produces an error.
