THE NUMBERS, EXPLAINED
Your 2026–27 (FY 2083–84) calculation
17 Jul 2026 – 16 Jul 2027. Nepal’s fiscal year begins on 1 Shrawan. Both the Gregorian and Bikram Sambat fiscal-year labels appear in the year selector.
Nepal uses a mid-July fiscal year. FY 2083–84 changes the first band to NPR 1 million and the top marginal rate to 29%; 29% means 27% plus two percentage points only on income above NPR 4 million. The 1% first-band tax is included. Gross equals taxable salary only within the supported profile; contributions and special reliefs can change both tax and cash pay.
2026–27 (FY 2083–84) salary tax slabs
Annual taxable employment income. Each rate applies only to the portion within its band. Gross salary equals taxable income here because this limited profile has no deductible contributions or other reliefs.
| Annual taxable salary band | Marginal rate |
|---|---|
| Up to NPR 1,000,000 | 1% |
| Above NPR 1,000,000 to NPR 1,500,000 | 10% |
| Above NPR 1,500,000 to NPR 2,500,000 | 20% |
| Above NPR 2,500,000 to NPR 4,000,000 | 27% |
| Above NPR 4,000,000 | 29% |
The 1% band, retirement contributions and reliefs
This estimate includes the 1% first-band tax. The first band is NPR 500,000 in FY 2082–83 and NPR 1,000,000 in FY 2083–84. Eligible pension-fund and contribution-based Social Security Fund contributors can be exempt from this first-band tax and can qualify for retirement deductions. Those profiles are outside this calculator’s scope.
The supported profile uses individual assessment without the women’s employment-tax rebate. Couple assessment, the 10% women’s rebate, insurance deductions, remote-area and disability reliefs, education deductions and medical credits are unsupported. Do not enter a salary reduced by those amounts: the calculator accepts gross salary within the stated profile.
The result is salary after income tax only. SSF, provident fund, pension, loans and other payslip deductions are not subtracted. A contributor should use a calculation that includes their actual contributions and exemptions.

Nepal salary after tax: common questions
Which years can I calculate?
FY 2083–84 (2026–27) and FY 2082–83 (2025–26). The rates are stored separately, so the newer first-band and top-rate changes are never applied to the older year. The URL uses the Gregorian starting year.
Does this match my final payslip?
This is an annual individual income-tax estimate before other payroll deductions. Actual withholding, contribution exemptions and reliefs can change tax and cash pay. Only use it if the supported profile matches you.
Can I calculate bonus or freelance income?
No. This profile supports regular employment salary only. Bonuses, business income, mixed income and partial-year work require a separate calculation.
Is my salary sent anywhere?
The calculation runs in your browser. Salary values remain in memory and are not placed in URLs, storage, requests or analytics. Changing country or year clears the input.
