AM-bidrag rounds monthly to cents before annualization. Other annual tax components round separately to cents, half upward, as an estimate convention, not exact tax-card withholding.

THE NUMBERS, EXPLAINED

Your 2026 calculation

1 Jan 2026 – 31 Dec 2026. Enter your municipality’s income-year tax percentage; the example uses an illustrative 25%, not an assumed national or town rate. Employee ATP is DKK 99 monthly; employer ATP is used only in the employment/job allowance base. Employment/job allowances reduce municipal taxable income; the personal allowance reduces bottom and municipal tax. The 2026 state-tax reform is not applied to 2025.

Denmark municipal tax, ATP and allowances

Enter your municipality’s income-tax percentage for 2026. The visible 25% example is illustrative. This profile excludes church membership and all pensions other than ATP, including employer pension schemes.

For a full-time monthly-paid private-sector employee working at least 117 hours each month, employee A-rate ATP is DKK 99/month. Employer ATP is separate. AM-bidrag is 8% after employee ATP. The remaining income is the personal-income base for state taxes.

The employment allowance is 12.75% up to 63.300 DKK. The job allowance is 4.5% of allowance income above 235.200 DKK, up to 3.100 DKK. Under LL section 9 J, the allowance base includes reported employee and employer ATP; employer ATP only affects this base, never cash deductions. Both allowances reduce municipal taxable income.

The 54.100 DKK personal allowance reduces bottom-bracket and municipal tax. Bottom-bracket tax is 12.01%. From 2026, middle tax is 7.5% above DKK 641,200, top tax is another 7.5% above DKK 777,900, and additional top tax is 5% above DKK 2,592,700. All thresholds are after AM-bidrag. The 44.57% ceiling reduces middle tax where bottom, middle and municipal rates exceed it; top and additional top tax remain separate.

Supported annual salary starts at DKK 240,000 and requires twelve equal monthly cent payments. Other pensions, senior or single-parent allowances, commuting deductions and tax-card withholding reconciliation are excluded. Zero salary is accepted as a separate zero-deduction case.
