Three parts of Norwegian salary tax
Ordinary income tax is 22% of salary after the 46% minimum standard deduction, capped at 95 700 NOK, and the 114 540 NOK personal allowance. These deductions reduce the tax base; they are not cash deductions from your salary.
Bracket tax applies to gross salary using the bands below. Employee national insurance is 7.6% of gross, limited to 25% of the amount above NOK 99,650. It is zero at or below that threshold.
At NOK 600,000 annual salary, the 2026 estimate is NOK 144,182.60 in total tax and national insurance. Monthly pay after these deductions averages NOK 37,984.78.
This initial calculator covers ages 40–59 to exclude the separate experimental employment deduction for selected younger workers. It also excludes the northern tax zone, Svalbard and foreign-worker PAYE. Annual liability divided by twelve does not reproduce holiday-pay months or reduced December withholding.
