Georgia salary income tax and funded pension
This calculator covers the country of Georgia, using Georgian lari (GEL). Ordinary employment income is taxed at 20%. It does not apply the separate small-business regime to employee salary.
Select whether you participate in the funded pension scheme throughout the income year. Participation depends on legal status, age at the statutory dates and any valid withdrawal; the calculator does not infer eligibility from salary. Choose no participation only if you are lawfully outside the scheme for the whole year. Changes during the year are excluded.
For an enrolled employee, the employee contribution is 2% of gross salary without the state contribution’s annual earnings caps. This contribution is exempt from income tax under Tax Code article 82(1)(b³), so the 20% tax applies to the remaining 98% of salary. The employer’s separate contribution and any state contribution are not deducted from your cash pay.
At GEL 3,000 monthly gross, an enrolled employee contributes GEL 60 to pension and pays GEL 588 income tax, leaving GEL 2,352. Without pension participation, income tax is GEL 600 and pay after included deductions is GEL 2,400. Special exemptions, voluntary private pensions and non-cash benefits are excluded.
