Final total included deductions rounds to cents, half upward, as an annual estimate convention; monthly figures are annual averages, not exact payroll or tax-return rounding.
THE NUMBERS, EXPLAINED
Your 2025 calculation
1 Jan 2025 – 31 Dec 2025. Enter total annual gross cash salary (including ordinary taxable 13th/14th instalments, if applicable); monthly input means annual gross divided by twelve, not an individual Italian payslip. Actual compulsory employee social contributions reduce taxable income and cash pay once. Employment credits and the EUR 1,000 additional credit/taper are included for 365 employment days. Regional and municipal taxes are excluded, so the result is before local tax. Taxable salary must exceed EUR 20,000; lower incomes need cash benefits outside this profile.
2025 salary tax slabs
Annual national IRPEF bands apply after compulsory employee social contributions. Employment credits reduce tax rather than taxable income. Local taxes are excluded.
| Annual taxable income band | Marginal rate |
|---|---|
| From zero to EUR 28,000 | 23% |
| Above EUR 28,000 to EUR 50,000 | 35% |
| Above EUR 50,000 | 43% |
Employment credits and employee contributions
Enter your actual annual compulsory employee social contributions from your payroll estimate or annual certificate. Contribution rates vary by sector and scheme. These contributions reduce taxable salary and cash salary once; employer contributions are excluded.
For annual taxable income above EUR 20,000 through EUR 28,000, the full-year employment credit is EUR 1,910 plus EUR 1,190 × (28,000 − income) / 13,000. Above EUR 28,000 through EUR 50,000 it is EUR 1,910 × (50,000 − income) / 22,000. Positive quotients are truncated to four decimals. An additional EUR 65 applies strictly above EUR 25,000 through EUR 35,000 inclusive.
The additional employment credit is EUR 1,000 above EUR 20,000 through EUR 32,000; from there it tapers as EUR 1,000 × (40,000 − income) / 8,000 and ends at EUR 40,000. Credits cannot make national IRPEF negative. Lower taxable incomes need separate cash-benefit rules and are outside this initial profile.
At EUR 36,000 annual gross and EUR 3,000 compulsory employee contributions, taxable income is EUR 33,000. The employment credit is EUR 1,540.86 and the additional credit EUR 875. National IRPEF is EUR 5,774.14, leaving EUR 27,225.86 before regional and municipal taxes.
Use total annual ordinary cash salary, including ordinarily taxed 13th/14th instalments where applicable. Monthly input represents annual salary divided by twelve. These monthly averages do not model Italy’s actual instalment schedule. Specially taxed pay increases, bonuses, overtime and severance are unsupported.
